Fawn Carcass & Feathers: An Inverted Umlaut Halloween Mixtape

image

DOWNLOAD THE MIXTAPE (256kbps MP3)

I can’t handle scary movies, but I adore music that reaches the horrifying sublime. Bummed that this past week’s more or less Halloween-themed radio show couldn’t be recorded, here’s a Halloween mixtape I put together last night. In between disemboweled metal and blackened noise, I’ve woven in some of my favorite horror movie soundtrack themes.

MAYHEM “Dark Night of the Soul,” Chimera
S.S. BOUNTYHUNTER “Thick, Thick, Ribcage,” S.S. Bountyhunter
GOBLIN “Sighs,” Suspiria Original Soundtrack
BASTARD PRIEST “Graveyard Sacrifice,” Under the Hammer of Destruction
PAINKILLER “Hostage,” Collected Works
TANTRUM OF THE MUSE “You Smell Better When You Are Dead,” The Heart is a Two-Headed Sperm
ENCOFFINATION “Beyond the Grace of Flesh I Go,” Ritual Ascension Beyond Flesh
CHRISTOPHER KOMEDA “Shaga Leaving”
GNAW THEIR TONGUES “La Mort dan Toute son Ineffable Grandeur,” L’arrive de la Terne Morte Troimphante
ENNIO MORRICONE “House of Witches,” Drammi Gotici Original Soundtrack
WRNLRD “Mephitic Celebrator,” They Don’t Know Unless You Tell Them
TEITANBLOOD “Domains of Darkness and Ancient Evil,” Seven Chalices
LALO SCHIFRIN “Scorpio’s Theme,” Dirty Harry Original Soundtrack
SCOTT WALKER “Jolson and Jones,” The Drift

“There is literally nothing more I despise in the world than hardcore dancers, because they ruin metal shows for true fans looking to have a good time. Which is why I say enough is enough. Metalheads, this blog is your opportunity to share with the world your hatred for these people. I insist congregate here, speak in the comments below, and share the world your stories and opinions. The main goal of this blog is to eradicate hardcore dancing from the world, and if we can unite and speak out then it is a possibility.” —[Mosh Rebellion]

“What concerns me is that Twitter can lead to the things metalheads outwardly claim to detest: cliques, egos, scenesterism, and nonsense. Metal has always been about individuality and cultivating a sense of self-worth. When misused, Twitter leads to the opposite: the notion that worth can be calculated by the the number of followers, the quest to try and say something arch, the reduction of meaningful dialogue into a series of brain farts.” —[Invisible Oranges: Twitter And Metal]

Layout work: 1st Oldest Album

Oooh, Mick Barr has a thrash/hardcore band.

englishwaffle:

Oldest is Mick Barr (Orthrelm, Ocrilim, Krallice) + Brooks Headly (UOA, Born Against, Wrangler Brutes). I did the layout and the butt border on the front. Mick did the logo and song titles. You can order the CD straight from Mick. You can sample a taste of Oldest here.

“Sure, it would have been easier to get a Moyen cover and sing about goats in gas masks or whatever cartoon shit passes for extremity these days. But what would be the point in that? Blood Revolt is genuinely extreme in every sense.” —[Invisible Oranges: Interview: A.A. Nemtheanga (Blood Revolt)]
