Devil cello + Reign in Blood = Killick. I was recently reminded of this odd, yet supremely awesome tribute to Slayer’s punishing masterpiece. Killick’s tastes are diverse, but often extreme, so it didn’t take long for the instrument-creator and free-improviser to creatively praise and reinterpret one his favorite albums of all time. It’s masterful and still surprisingly heavy for a solo “H’arpeggione” record, a kind of guitar/cello hybrid as furious as Kerry and Jeff.
